I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Best AutoLayout helper library

I'd be interested in seeing a video comparing and recommending Auto Layout helper libraries. There are quite a few, which suggests it's something people find useful. There's CompactConstraint <https://github.com/marcoarment/CompactConstraint>, AutoLayout Shorthand <https://github.com/rentzsch/AutoLayoutShorthand>, Masonry <https://github.com/cloudkite/Masonry>, a macro-based system that Erica Sadun developed in her book, and probably others. Are these a good idea? Is the benefit in expressiveness worth the cost of writing your layout in non-standard tools? Is one clearly preferable to the others?

  4. Subclassing MKPolylineRenderer

With Mapkit becoming more useful, using core graphics to make custom lines would be a useful skill. Instead of being limited to simple strokes, line widths, etc

  5. iPad Videos Needed on this site

There is not a single video in the library covering how to make an iPad or universal app which can work sharing some logic with iPhone. please ben can you do this? its realistic that most iOS developers will need to build universal apps.

  7. Not use storyboard, only code

It'd be great if you could do examples only with code, specifically with the tabbar example.

  8. Using RestKit or some other library to provide sync-to-and-from-web functionality

Use RestKit or some other technique to provide sync-to-web, sync-from-web, and the ability to store personal data on multiple devices. Ideally, this would not use a paid for service so it could be more generic.

  10. Xcode Build settings etc.. Linker flags (-all_load), Header Paths ($SOURCE_ROOT) how all this works and what stuff means.

Build settings and Build Phases can be like a dark art even to more experienced devs. What does "-all_load" do and mean? What about "-ObjC"? Where do these flags come from how many are there? Same with -fno-objc-arc where does this stuff come from?
Also all the stuff you can put in a header path "$SOURCE_ROOT" how many more of these are they as well?
The whole build settings section of Xcode scares a lot of people me included.

  11. Best practices for applying AFNetworking Reachability?

I have been looking for a good tutorial on how to properly structure an iOS application to use AFNetworking Reachability. BTW, I have seen snippets of code here and there but nothing complete and nothing that I can use as a best practice given an application that has multiple view controllers that may require access to potentially different external resources.

  12. How to implement a login/signup workflow using storyboards

Almost every app needs a signup/login workflow. It's not straight-forward as you have to deal with things like bypassing storyboard scenes when already logged in and log out (which winds back to the signup/login screen)

  15. Reachability

Describe options/alternatives to incorporate reachability into an iOS app; differences between Apple's and AFNetworking 2.0 reachability framework. And a best practice example of implementing this in an app using blocks.

  17. Build a news feed with dynamic height

I was curious how you would go about building something like the news feed in the facebook app, where the elements have dynamic heights. So far I've tried using UIScrollView with custom UIView's and utilizing auto layout. Think it would be a good topic for a screencast.

  19. Continuous Integration and bots with Mavericks OSX

Unit tests and CI looks great on the new Mavericks OSX server, I've tried it myself but it can be hard to get configurations right when using pods and 3rd party frameworks

  20. Version-controlling Xcode Projects

It's quite difficult to use git or another DVCS with Xcode cleanly. Merging pbxproj sometimes results in big trouble. What should be included in .gitignore or .gitattributes to effectively manage version-contrlling with git for example.

A screencast episode that outlines the perfect workflow to combine git and xcode would really make my life a lot easier.
