I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. CoreData with iOS7-style iCloud integration and FetchedResultController

It will be great to see all of this in one great demo. Please cover CoreData specific dispatch issues, how to better share context between controllers. Issue with FetchResultController update after iCloud change persistent store.

  2. Application architecture

Ho to structure the application, best practices. I have networking layer, repository (talks to network and returns fully constructed objects), app flow protocols, business logic. I would love to hear more about it.

  3. Xcode Build settings etc.. Linker flags (-all_load), Header Paths ($SOURCE_ROOT) how all this works and what stuff means.

Build settings and Build Phases can be like a dark art even to more experienced devs. What does "-all_load" do and mean? What about "-ObjC"? Where do these flags come from how many are there? Same with -fno-objc-arc where does this stuff come from?
Also all the stuff you can put in a header path "$SOURCE_ROOT" how many more of these are they as well?
The whole build settings section of Xcode scares a lot of people me included.

  5. Enlightenment about PaintCode

I've seen lots of good things about PaintCode (http://www.paintcodeapp.com/), and understand what it's doing, but am having a hard time understanding when I'd want to use it in my app.

  6. CoreLocation

CoreLocation is kind of complicated. Please show us the way.

  7. Build a news feed with dynamic height

I was curious how you would go about building something like the news feed in the facebook app, where the elements have dynamic heights. So far I've tried using UIScrollView with custom UIView's and utilizing auto layout. Think it would be a good topic for a screencast.

  8. Devise authentication with a rails backend for IOS

I'd love to see an IOS app using a Ruby on Rails app with Devise authentication, which can call a simple data model scoped by user.

    Thank you

  11. Optionals in Swift

There seems to be a lot of confusion about optionals in Swift. People get confused when they are combined with let statements. To top it all off seem devs don't seem to understand optional chaining.

I think that it would be worth exploring how a optional is implemented too. Perhaps what the ?? operator does and why it works.

airspeedvelocity.net does a good job explaining it but may be above some people's heads.

  13. Using AppCode as an alternative to Xcode

It's time to broaden our horizons. A close look at "AppCode" and what it has to offer compared to Xcode. Features to pay extra attention to:

    - debugging
    - refactoring support
    - code completion
    - source code formatting

  14. XCTest and Bots

You've done a couple of screencasts about testing, but with the new XCTest framework, it would be cool to see the recommended ways of testing, particularly testing view controllers. Continuous integration with Xcode Bots would also be welcome.

  15. File New to App Store Submission

I would like to pay for a series of screencasts where you take us through building an iOS app for both iPhone and iPad that starts from File New to App Store submission.

    Thanks!

  16. Include RubyMotion code alongside Objective-C code in the show notes

Although I wouldn't expect you to have alternative videos - one using Objective-C and one using Ruby - I'd love to see alternative show notes showing how one would implement the same functionality in a RubyMotion environment... with much shorter code snippets.

Using MOGenerator for easy Rails-like DB access, including custom methods on managed objects. Also how to handle schema changes.

  18. Advanced UITableView screencast - covering all the new things in IO5

I'd like to see a screencast setting up a full featured UITableView with all the opportunities regarding manipulating rows and sections. Tia, Thomas

  19. Customizing UITableView (you promised in #3 :D)

In episode 3 you talked about future lessons on the customization of UITableView. I'm particularly interested in the skinning of a grouped UITableView and applying 'swipe' actions on UTableViewCells.

  20. OAuth2 with AFNetworking 2.0 & Refresh Token

Create your own OAuth2 server using Doorkeeper gem (Ruby on Rails) and interact with AFNetworking 2.0 and revoke access token with refresh token when an access token expires.

It was easily possible in AFNetworking 1.x with JSONOperation enque but with AFHTTPSessionManager it seems hard to restart a URLSessionTask.
